Inspection requirements differ depending on the region.  But these are the common types of compliance inspections.

Electrical Inspection: Inspect electrical components of equipment for deficiencies.

Mechanical Inspection:  Inspect mechanical components of equipment for deficiencies.

Structural Inspections: Inspect all structure components for deficiencies.

Initial Inspection: Inspects equipment for deficiencies before a new crane is put into service, or an overhead crane that has not been in use for an extended period of time, or an overhead crane that has been moved from one area crane system to another.

Periodic Inspection: Inspects overhead cranes for deficiencies based on equipment use and environment

Frequent Inspections: Inspection of safety-critical components of equipment between periodic inspections and planned maintenance visits

Major Inspections:  InspectsOverhead Cranes for deficiencies generally done after the first ten years of service Load Test: Verifies that overhead cranes can lift and move a rated load through all designed motions.
